I was yakin' it up with a software buddy of mine this morning about Cabinet Maker Manager. In his usual and casual manner, Mark was asking all the right questions.
"If it's ERP software, it must be pretty big and complicated stuff.", Mark said.
I know Mark uses a lot of 'techy' talk and acronymns so I'll try to translate his geek speek. He said 'If it's ERP software, it must be pretty big and complicated stuff'. I know it really helps to have a geek speek interpreter like me.
As I pondered the complexity, depth and magnitude of Marks rocket-science-like statement, I started to reevaluate the notion that Cabinet Maker Manager is ERP software. And although it may be technically correct to label Cabinet Maker Manager as ERP software, it isn't as complicated, expensive, and difficult to implement as traditional ERP solutions. Perhaps a more appropriate tag would be 'Work Flow Solution'.
The magic of Cabinet Maker Manager is not that it helps you draw pretty 3D renderings for your customers or that it creates cutlists and optimizes materials. It doesn't do any of that stuff. What is does do is help you get jobs through the shop faster and more efficiently. And that means more money in your pocket and/or less expensive cabinets for your customers.
So I am making it official today. Cabinet Maker Manager is now 'Cabinet Maker Manager Formerly Known As ERP Software For Cabinet Shops'. No....its still Cabinet Maker Manger. But 'Work Flow Solutions for Cabinet Makers' is a better tag.
