Competitive upgrades....is the grass greener over there?

The temptation is high, the cost is high and the risk is just as high.  How many times have you become slightly more than disenchanted with your current cabinet design software?  Before you lay down some serious bank for a shiny new cabinet design program, consider the possibility you just may be buying a new set of problems and frustrations.

Maybe 'Work Flow Solutions for Cabinet Makers' is a better tag

I was yakin' it up with a software buddy of mine this morning about Cabinet Maker Manager.   In his usual and casual manner, Mark was asking all the right questions.

"If it's ERP software,  it must be pretty big and complicated stuff.", Mark said.

Why Cabnetware is locked in its own architecture

A long, long time ago ( in the late 1970's ) in a galaxy about 30 minutes from here ( Woodland, California ) a couple of young cabinet makers started fooling around with computers.  They learned a few things about the simple programming languages of that time.  And they came up with a simple program to help them calculate some parts for face frame cabinets.

The Success of missing a release date

I'm sure there must be some unwritten rule of software development which says developers must commit to release dates which are impossible to meet.

And I'm certainly one who doesn't want to break any rules.   Sometime ago, right here on this blog, I said I would have the purchasing module of Cabinet Maker Manager ready for beta release on April 5th.   The fifth has come and gone and I missed the release date.

Cabnetware CSV file peccadillo

There are two kinds of....(fill in the blank).

Cabnetware users....those who complain about the technical support and those who've given up on the technical support.

A lot of Cabnetware folks import CSV files into Excel to create door and drawer front purchase orders.  The process is fairly easy since Excel opens and parses CSV files without any user effort.  If you already have a template set up, you can import CSV files for each order and fill in the job details and you're practically good to go.

Cabnetware and Skype

Between long sessions of coding...sometimes lasting up to 20 minutes...I distract myself with as many things as possible.  Distractions can be fun and profitable, however.

Take Skype, for example.  Today I started a Skype chat group for Cabnetware folks.  And I invited a couple of Cabnetware guys into the group just to get the ball rolling.

Renaissance Square, Concord CA

I just ran across this web site for a 309 unit condo project I designed a couple of years ago.  As I recall, there were about 61 different floor plans which a whittled down to about 22 floor plans because of similarities.

At that time, Signature Properties owned the project.

Cabinet Maker Manager is coming soon

You can hunt all over this site for information on Cabinet Maker Manager and you'll just get frustrated.  There is a page labeled 'Cabinet Maker Manager' but its just a bunch of place holder jiberish.  ( Is jiberish the official language of Jiberians? )

Welcome Cabnetware 4 Us Forum Folks

Thanks for taking a few minutes to poke around the new and improved Cabinet Design Engineer site.

Please try to break it....I mean it.  This is a brand new incarnation of the old site.  This new website was developed using Drupal.  Its a dynamic website so there is new and changing content all the time.

Its all Latin to me

I'm one of those folks who, upon finding a 'This page under construction' page, will immediately leave that web site.  And, its pretty likely that I won't return and I definitely won't bookmark that site.

Having typed that, I don't put those nasty little messages on this web site.  But I do use that Latin looking nonsense....you know what I mean.... "Lorem ipsum nostril detestum" or however that goes.
